Summary of a Missouri Court of Appeals Decision on Asbestos Exposure: Hedgecorth v. Union Pacific
Timothy Hedgecorth, a railroad employee, filed a lawsuit against his employer, Union Pacific Railroad Company, under the federal employers' liability act (FELA), to recover damages for personal injuries suffered from exposure to asbestos. The jury returned a verdict in Hedgecorth's favor upon which the trial court entered judgment.
Exposure to asbestos is known to cause serious illnesses such as mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer or asbestosis.
