Atrazine Levels in Topeka Water

June 7, 2007

The Lawrence Journal World and News reports that the 2006 Kansas water data is in, and it revealed some shocking information.

"According to 2006 water quality reports, Topeka’s tap water contains higher levels of contaminants metolachlor and atrazine, which come from runoff from herbicides used in farming."

Despite this Topeka still rates a mention in the list of "Cool Cities." (A tally of the nation's greenest cities.)
