September 27, 2006 (Houston Business Journal)
A new report says that Houston's air quality is decaying and requires "urgent
attention."
The study, released by the Houston Endowment concludes that
immediate steps should be taken to dramatically reduce emissions.
The
authors of the study--a wide-ranging group of educators and students--say
Houston's declining air quality is marring its reputation.
The report
focuses on health risks related to four harmful air
pollutants--Benzene,1.3-butadiene, formaldehyde and diesel--and urges that their
emission levels be dramatically reduced from industrial plants and motor
vehicles.
