Ohio EPA held an information session and public hearing in Magnolia regarding a proposal to permanently increase the daily waste acceptance rate at landfill of Countywide Recycling and Disposal Facility.
The landfill, located in Pike Township at 3619 Gracemont Ave., S.W., East Sparta, Stark County, was owned and operated at the time by Waste Management of Ohio, Inc. (WMO).
At the March, 1997, information session, Ohio EPA answered questions about WMO's proposal and the solid waste permitting process. A hearing followed the information session to give the public the opportunity to comment on the proposal for the record.
Ohio EPA reviewed a permit application from WMO that, if approved, would permanently increase the maximum daily waste acceptance rate to 5,000 tons. At that rate, Countywide would have approximately five years of capacity remaining. WMO has indicated that it is seeking this permanent increase because Mid-American Waste Systems' Cuyahoga Regional Landfill and BFI's Glenwillow Landfill are no longer accepting solid waste.
