On August 26^th, 2010, DePuy Pharmaceuticals issued a recall of two of their hip implant systems, owing to an unprecedented amount of complaints nationwide from those who suffered complications after their surgery. The following two systems were officially removed from the market:

ASR XL Acetabular System

ASR Hip Resurfacing System

Approximately 90,000 people are implanted with one of the DePuy systems, and the manufacturer predicts that at least 30,000 have suffered complications (or will at some point in time). Unfortunately, the only effective remedy is corrective surgery.
