July 2011- Halliburton recently admitted fault for contaminating 18 water wells with perchlorate. In an attempt to rectify the problem, Halliburton pledged to work closely with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality as well as “reimburse health costs to those affected by the contamination.” (AP Texas News) The company believes that the presence of perchlorate in its wells “is the result of burning missile fuel in a project that ended some two decades ago.” (AP Texas News)
