Weitz & Luxenberg is no longer accepting Heparin cases
Contaminant Mimicking Pig Enzyme Found in Heparin.
The largest supplier of an enzyme from pig intestines that is needed to produce heparin is China. This fact has lead investigators to look in China to for the source of a "heparin-like" contaminant that has found its way into certain batches.
Although still uncertain, it is suspected that this mimicking substance could have led to the deaths and illnesses caused by the drug.
The unknown ingredient could have been introduced deliberately or accidentally before the product reached Baxter's U.S. factory in New Jersey. The manufacturer shipped its heparin from a plant in Changzhou, China.
