Alpena, MI - Cement plants' mercury emissions draw closer scrutiny

Alpena, MI - The Lafarge North America cement plant has
been labeled the second-largest source for airborn mercury in the
state.
After discovering that the plant was responsible for pumping 581
pounds of mercury into the air, they, together with the Michigan Department of
Environmental Quality, have come up with a plan to reduce emissions.
