September 18, 2006
CARSON CITY, Nev - In a positive step towards
protecting the environment, a Nevada legislative panel approved a new set of
rules regarding mercury emissions.
As explained in the Las Vegas Sun,
"The new rules require power plants with coal-fired electric utility steam
generating units to get state permits."

is to encourage mercury reductions at existing plants and encourage new plants
to make use of low-emission technology."
