Lifesaving Laws: Billings Power Plants Must Reduce Mercury Emissions

There is currently a bill in Congres that would require Billings power plants to reduce mercury emissions by 90%. The hearing regarding House Bill 586 was held before the House Federal Relations, Energy and Telecommunications Committee. It was put forth by Rep. Jonathan Windy Boy, D-Box Elder, and it calls for existing fossil-fuel or biomass power plants to meet reduction regulations by Jan. 1, 2010.
