Are you Affected by Water Contamination around Moog Components Group?
Moog Components Group: In the latest news on the groundwater contamination near Peachtree, NC, News Channel 9 is reporting that soil and water tests show the contamination effects at least 50 families, many of whom were told not to drink, bathe or wash clothes using their well water.
The Environmental Protection Agency has determined that that hazardous
chemicals--so-called "volatile organic compounts"--were dumped into groundwater
supplies and a nearby creek many years ago. That contamination, officials
believe, may be spreading into Peachtree. The original site was around the Moog
Components Group on N.C. 141. It was formerly owned by Clifton Precision, but
was bought by defense contractor Northrup Grumman in 2001.
The
Environmental PA has scheduled two public meetings to address concerns regarding
the Peachtree contamination: Thursday, November 8, 2007, 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 -9
p.m., at the Peachtree Community Center.
