OSHA requires asbestos warning labels
OSHA standards since 1972 have required that brake and clutch parts made with asbestos bear various warning labels, and none of the manufacturers put warning labels on these products before that time.
Litigation of claims by mechanics has disclosed that Ford Motor Company did not start putting OSHA warning labels on the packages until 1980.
General Motors still hasn’t produced documentation of when GM started to warn consumers of their brake parts about asbestos.
Yet, it appears from the records I have seen that OSHA has never cited, much less fined, any seller of these unlabeled products for violation of the standard.
