PCE Warning: Water Testing Advised for Roscoe, Illinois Residents
Is your
water safe?
The Rockford Register Star reports that 370 residents in Roscoe,
Illinois were just sent letters from the Winnebago County Health Department
warning them to have their well water tested for the dangerous chemical
tetrachloroethylene or PCE.
PCE is a cancer-causing agent used for dry
cleaning and metal degreasing.
The area has a long history of
contamination, including parts of Olde Farm, Hononegah, and Evergreen
Manor.
The state's Right-to-Know law, which was passed in July 2005,
requires the Environmental Protection Agency to notify residents who live near
areas about testing where water contamination has been found.
We'll worry about the legal deadlines; you focus on your health. Our short form below will start the process.
