9 Weitz & Luxenberg attorneys again tapped for magazine’s New York ‘Super Lawyers’ list
New York City (Oct. 19, 2012) -- Nine extraordinary attorneys with the Manhattan law firm Weitz & Luxenberg, P.C., once again earned the mantle of New York metropolitan-area “Super Lawyers,” according to the organization that assembles the rarified list.
The Weitz & Luxenberg attorneys named as 2012 “Super Lawyers” are: Perry Weitz, Esq.; Arthur Luxenberg, Esq.; Robert J. Gordon, Esq.; Jerry Kristal, Esq.; Paul Pennock, Esq.; Ellen Relkin, Esq.; Lawrence Goldhirsch, Esq.; Michael Roberts, Esq,; and Nicholas Wise, Esq.
Perry Weitz and Arthur Luxenberg, co-founding members of the firm, have been deemed “Super Lawyers” every year since 2006, as has member Gordon. The “Super Lawyers” designation has gone to Kristal, Pennock, and Goldhirsch annually since 2007; to Relkin, Roberts and Wise since 2010.
Super Lawyers magazine is the compiler of the list, which celebrates attorneys acknowledged by their peers to have attained legal expertise surpassing that of the vast majority of law practitioners in a given locale. The selection process begins with nominations from other attorneys who have personally observed the prospective candidates in action. Later, the publishers of Super Lawyers magazine employ a rigorous, multi-phase rating process to evaluate each nominee on a dozen indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Only about 5 percent of each state’s attorneys emerge from this process as “Super Lawyers,” according to the magazine.
Each of the nine Weitz & Luxenberg “Super Lawyers” has been in practice for decades and can claim many impressive legal victories – typically obtained against corporate giants armed with lavish legal defense budgets and an overflowing cornucopia of courtroom tricks.
Weitz & Luxenberg is a leading mass-tort and personal-injury litigation law firm founded in 1986 by attorneys Perry Weitz and Arthur Luxenberg. To date, the firm has secured more than $7.3 billion in verdicts and settlements for clients. It’s numerous practice areas include: asbestos and mesothelioma, defective medicines and devices, environmental pollutants, accidents, personal injury, and medical malpractice.
