September 21, 2009 - The widow of a former pipe fitter for Combustion Engineering today obtained a record $1.4 million verdict in a lawsuit against National Services Industries, doing business as North Brothers.
The Hamilton County jury reached its verdict after a seven-day trial and a two-day deliberation. The verdict is believed to be the first successful asbestos verdict against North Brothers in any state.
Marion Jackson maintained her husband was exposed to asbestos over a period of 34 years working for the defendant company.
Her attorneys claim the asbestos was in products manufactured by North Brothers and resulted in Wayne Jackson contracting mesothelioma, the deadliest form of asbestos-related cancer.
