Do you fit the description below? If so, you may want to consider getting tested for exposure to asbestos. These individuals are people who: have had contact with asbestos through a "burst exposure" i.e. a very heavy concentration of asbestos in a limited amount of time, troubles with their respiratory system, ongoing contact with asbestos, or friends or relatives of people who have involved themselves with asbestos-related fields even if the person who worked with asbestos has no evident exposure signs.

Certain illnesses have been linked to asbestos exposure: Mesothelioma (a cancer of the thin membranes lining the thoracic and abdominal cavities and surrounding internal organs), asbestosis (a serious, chronic, non cancerous fibrous hardening and scarring of the lungs), lung cancer, and pleural plaque and thickening (scarring of the lining of the lung). The most commonly known symptoms of asbestos-related diseases are coughing, coughing blood, shortness of breath, chest pain and weight loss. Unfortunately, the tangible signs of contact with asbestos can appear up to 25 years after primary exposure. Annual or even semi-annual asbestos detection tests are recommended.

It is crucial to seek a professional opinion if you think that you have been exposed to asbestos. Initial testing is an x-ray (side and front view of your chest.) Further tests may include a pulmonary function test, blood work, a CT scan and/or biopsy. At times, doctors speak a language unclear to the layman. Be sure to ask your medical professional about your situation. If you don't understand your doctor, request that he put it in plain words so you can better know your condition. All citizens who have participated in the U.S. Armed Forces should receive the benefits they deserve. Weitz & Luxenberg is committed to making this happen. This includes compensation for potentially fatal diseases that are caused by exposure to asbestos, such as lung cancer.

Living with lung cancer can be challenging. Weitz & Luxenberg can help diminish some of the worry by providing you with a free case evaluation. Your first step is to complete the form below.
