Assistance for Vets

Do you need to contact North Little Rock Regional Office? 2200 Fort Roots Drive, Building 65 North Little Rock, AR 72114-1756 Phone: (800) 827-1000.

Read below to see if you may be at risk for exposure to asbestos. Read each of the subsequent items for the main characteristics of those who may be at risk for asbestos exposure:
  • People with breathing problems
  • Individuals with protracted exposure to asbestos
  • People who think they have had prolonged exposure to asbestos
  • Immediate family members of those who have worked in asbestos-related trades, even if the individual who worked with asbestos has no evident exposure signs or irregular breathing patterns

In general, there is a group of diseases that result from asbestos exposure: Asbestosis (a serious, chronic, non cancerous fibrous hardening and scarring of the lungs), mesothelioma (a cancer of the thin membranes lining the thoracic and abdominal cavities and surrounding internal organs), pleural plaque and thickening (scarring of the lining of the lung) and lung cancer. The main indicators of asbestos-related diseases are coughing, coughing blood, shortness of breath, chest pain and weight loss. Unfortunately, the detectable signs of contact with asbestos can appear up to 25 years after initial exposure. Annual or even semi-annual asbestos detection tests are recommended.

It is recommended to see a doctor if you presume that you have been exposed to asbestos. Initial testing is an x-ray (side and front view of your chest.) Further tests may include a pulmonary function test, blood work, a CT scan and/or biopsy. At times, medical professionals may speak a language unintelligible to the typical patient. Be sure to ask your doctor about your state. If you don't totally grasp your doctor, have him explain it in a way that you can better get the picture. All men and women who have participated in the American Armed Forces should receive the services they deserve. Weitz & Luxenberg is committed to making this happen. This includes compensation for life-threatening diseases that are caused by contact with asbestos, such as mesothelioma.

Did you know there is no time limit for filing an asbestos lawsuit? Weitz & Luxenberg can help you receive compensation regardless of when you were exposed. Simply fill out the form below to start the process.
