VICTOR - Merck's Vioxx Study That Couldn't Be Completed Due to Recall
The VICTOR study was an international randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter study of Vioxx in 7000 patients with colorectal cancer that started in April of 2002. This was supposed to be a two year study focusing on determining the survival of patients taking rofecoxib compared with a placebo. Cardiovascular events were monitored by both Merck and the VICTOR trial investigators where the study ceased on 30 September 2004 after Merck voluntarily recalled Vioxx off the market.
