Why Weitz and Luxenberg?
After more than 25 years of experience handling various types of accident cases, as well as other areas of litigation, Weitz and Luxenberg remains true to the very philosophy upon which the firm was founded: to treat each and every client’s case with deserved respect, compassion and attention.
Below are the types of accidents we handle:
Auto/Car Accident:Drivers are expected to exercise responsibility with their vehicles, not just for themselves, but for their fellow drivers. When these drivers are negligent, accidents happen and in many cases, the result of these accidents is serious injury or death.
Elevator/Escalator Accident:Accidents involving elevators and escalators “kill about 30 and seriously injure about 17,000 people each year in the United States.” (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics) Anyone can be injured in an elevator or escalator, but construction workers who are tasked with “installing, repairing and maintaining elevators, account for almost half of the annual deaths.” (US Bureau of Labor Statistics) If you are injured in either an elevator or escalator, your suffering can impede your ability to make a living and provide for your family.
Truck Accident: Truck drivers are expected to exercise extreme care while on the roads because of the size of their vehicle. Even the slightest mishap or lapse in judgment can result in serious injuries or death.
Workplace Accident: There are a multitude of accidents that can occur in the workplace, such as trips, sustaining injuries from lifting heavy objects, falling from a height et cetera. According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, in 2009, there were “3.3 million nonfatal workplace accidents,” 4,340 of which were fatal. Although the rate of workplace fatalities have decreased in recent years, the rate of injuries sustained at work is on the rise.
Pedestrian Knockdown: Countless vehicular accidents involve pedestrians, who are vulnerable to vehicular knockdowns. Because the human body cannot withstand the force of a speeding vehicle, the injuries sustained can severely impede on a person’s quality of life.
Bicyclist Collision: Bicyclists, much like motorcyclists, are especially vulnerable to injury when sharing the road with cars, trucks, and other large vehicles. Wearing a helmet and bright colors, as well as obeying traffic signals can help prevent bicycle accidents, but not all bicycle riders are so cautious.
Motorcycle Collision: Motorcyclists are vulnerable to accidents when sharing the road with larger vehicles and the impact of a motorcycle accident, involving a larger vehicle or another motorcycle, can be physically, emotionally and financially catastrophic.
Single Car Collision: A single car collision is just as dangerous as a two car or multi car accident and can lead to serious injuries, many of which may be irreversible (such as spinal trauma resulting in quadriplegia). Even extremely cautious drivers can be harmed in an accident, due to no fault of their own.
Multi-Car Collision: Multi Car Accidents can be especially catastrophic because multiple parties can sustain serious injuries leading to diminished quality of life or eventual death.
Toyota Recall: In September 2009, the Associated Press reported that Toyota would recall 3.8 million vehicles in the United States, owing to problems that could cause a crash. Toyotas vehicles are equipped with removable floor mats, which could interfere with the accelerator and result in catastrophic injury. The recall is the largest of its kind in U.S. history.
