Asbestos removal project nears completion at Middle Township, NJ, school building
July 27, 2009 - Middle Township, NJ, authorities announced yesterday that renovations at the 100-year-old former Whitesboro school building would be completed by late 2009. The project, which included Asbestos abatement, was funded by a $1.2-million grant from the N.J. Department of Community Affairs.
The historic building was constructed in 1908, and served as the schoolhouse for generations of children in the Whitesboro, NJ region. Today, the building serves as a community services center.
Since 2005, the township secured three separate grants for lead paint and asbestos abatement, installation of ADA-compliant handicapped building access, the construction of new restrooms and other building renovations.
