Asbestos found in Southmoreland school boilers
Superintendent John Halfhill said all the asbestos in Southmoreland Elementary school was confined to old boilers and crawl spaces. He said no students or teachers were exposed to fibers while they were in the building. The asbestos is exposed because of the renovations.
It was also recommended that contractors place metal decking on the roof and noted the new middle school has experienced water penetration into the brick in the stage and kitchen areas.
