Ambler, PA Asbestos Site Proposed for Superfund List
In September 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed that the Borit Asbestos Site in Ambler, PA be added to the national Superfund National Priorities List.
The Borit site was used to dispose of asbestos-containing materials from the 1930s through the 1970s. The site is divided into three sections: an asbestos waste pile, a reservoir and a former park/playground. The berm of the reservoir was constructed of asbestos shingles, millboard and soil, with visible asbestos waste surrounding the reservoir and stream banks. The 11 acre property that was once used as a playground was fenced in the 1980s due to asbestos contamination.
Exposure to asbestos is known to cause serious diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer and asbestosis.
Weitz & Luxenberg is a leading plaintiffs' law firm that has represented people affected by mesothelioma for over 20 years. Men and women diagnosed with mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure may be entitled to compensation from the companies responsible for their disease.
