U.S. automakers still sell cars with asbestos-containing brakes
Safety occupational officials recently confirmed that major U.S. automakers still sell new vehicles with asbestos brakes.
This contradicted the reported findings of a telephone survey that Environmental Protection Agency had done in 2004, which reported that all the car companies interviewed indicated that they no longer sold asbestos brakes in new vehicles or as replacement parts in the U.S.
The companies accounted for 96 percent of light vehicle sales in the U.S. They include such auto giants as General Motors, Ford, and Toyota.
This news is alarming given the proven health risk asbestos poses to the
public.
Asbestos, a known carcinogen, has been linked to such diseases as
asbestosis, mesothelioma and lung cancer.
Our law firm has
ample historical documentation indicating that numerous companies over the years
imperiled the lives of their employees by knowingly placing them in contact with
asbestos without providing appropriate safety equipment, guidelines and
protective gear.
We continue to fight for the rights of those who have
been harmed by asbestos. If your health has been affected by asbestos, please
