Waller, an official fired over asbestos wrongs to be honored at Builders’ Association dinner

Waller, a former building official fired over illegal asbestos practices, is scheduled to be the guest of honor at an upcoming Calaveras Builders Association dinner.

Morse, briefed this week on the documents detailing Waller's firing, seemed taken aback and said he would review the records and reconsider his position on Waller.

Morse, however, noted that the incidents cited in the firing stretch back more than a decade. "Why did he last?" Morse asked.
