Cape Girardeau, MO National Guard Armory Renovation to Include Asbestos Removal
The National Guard Armory facility in Cape Girardeau, MO is currently being renovated. The $1.5 million project involves removing asbestos in many of the buildings. The project is expected to be completed in May 2009.
When the Armory buildings were inspected for asbestos, the dangerous carcinogen was found in floor tiles, walls and ceilings. No airborne asbestos was discovered.
The Armory is home to several units, including the 1140th Engineer Battalion’s Headquarters Company and Forward Support Company, the 735th Quartermasters, Troop Medical Company 2 and the Recruitment Sustainment Program’s Echo Company.
