Garbage bags filled With asbestos left on residential side street in Connecticut
Environmental Protection officials believe someone was trying to save money and dumped garbage bags containing asbestos, exposing residents of a Connecticut neighborhood to the cancer-causing asbestos fibers, according to NBC News on June 12, 2008.
The DEP removed 18 garbage bags filled with insulation that were left on a neighborhood street and hauled them to a secure landfill.
Reportedly, when local residents heard of the health hazards caused by asbestos exposure, they were horrified.
