Electrician worker launches asbestos lawsuit after receiving mesothelioma diagnosis.
The widow of a former electrician worker has received asbestos compensation after her husband died from mesothelioma, according to the North-West Evening Mail on August 14, 2008.
The man, who left behind four children, was diagnosed with mesothelioma in April 2007. He succumbed to the asbestos disease three weeks later.
He reportedly worked for 40 years as an electrician in the 1950s and 60s.
Mesothelioma is an incurable cancer of the lining of the lung caused by exposure to asbestos. The disease can lie dormant for decades.
Electricians are among those workers who risk exposure to asbestos in their occupation.
This is because electric wiring insulation, electrical panel partitions and electrical cloth can all contain asbestos.
