Elmira, NY School Repairs Stalled Because of Asbestos

In February 2009, the City of Elmira, NY reported on delays in remodeling and new construction projects for two of the city’s high schools due to the discovery of asbestos at one of the schools.

Plans to build new science classrooms at Elmira Free School had to be delayed after asbestos was found in caulking on the exterior of the building. Once the asbestos is removed, the city plans to move forward with the project.
