Dying carpenter seeks compensation from asbestos product manufacturers

A carpenter diagnosed with asbestos-exposure-related mesothelioma cancer filed a lawsuit in Beaumont, Tex., against the manufacturers of asbestos-containing construction products he encountered on the job.

Industries that have placed workers most at risk for toxic asbestos exposure include the: automobile, construction, electrical, power plant and shipyard industries. If you have been diagnosed with asbestos-related mesothelioma and seek a free case review, please notify us through the communication form on this page.

Mesothelioma Lawsuit

A Texas carpenter who claims he developed asbestos-related mesothelioma cancer while on the job has filed a lawsuit against 38 defendant corporations, including General Electric and Georgia Pacific.

Cleveland J. Savoy accuses the companies of failing to test the asbestos-containing products before manufacturing and marketing them, and of being negligent by failing to warn him about the health dangers of asbestos exposure.

The mesothelioma lawsuit states that, because of his reliance on the companies, he has suffered great physical pain and mental anguish, has lost wages, sustained physical impairment, incurred medical costs and suffered a progressive loss of earning capacity.

Asbestos is a carcinogen that was a component of many building and insulating products throughout the 20th century. Carpenters and other laborers in the construction industry regularly work with asbestos-containing materials, especially during renovation and demolition work in buildings made before 1980.

Mesothelioma claims the lives of some 3,000 American workers every year.
