Asbestos fibers can be resuspended in residential areas near a site
Airborne asbestos fibers can infiltrate residential areas.
The attorneys at the personal injury law firm of Weitz & Luxenberg have decades of experience defending victim’s rights in practice areas that include: accidents/general injury, dangerous drugs, medical malpractice, and environmental pollutants.
NEWS UPDATE:
Residential soil showed trace levels of asbestos, so it appears that asbestos fibers can be resuspended in residential areas near the site, or tracked into the home to be re-suspended with house dust.
The levels of asbestos in air remain uncertain, but levels would likely be less than what was found in EPA sampling through actively disturbing on-site soil.
Asbestos levels in soil are less in the neighborhood than on-site; furthermore, most yards have grass and vegetation, which minimizes disturbance of the soil.
