Man dies of mesothelioma after working with asbestos gasket material. Family files lawsuit against ex-employers

The family of a man who died of mesothelioma has filed a lawsuit against two companies alleging asbestos gasket material caused the man's death.

He was employed from 1957 to 1978 as a laborer at various locations, the lawsuit says.

Asbestos was commonly used years ago in ship building and construction. It was a cost effective, durable material that was chosen to be made into a variety of parts including gasket material.

Gasket material is in many different products from vehicles to ships and within our homes and buildings.

The lawsuit claims the defendants knew or should have known that the asbestos fibers contained in their products had a toxic, poisonous and highly deleterious effect upon the health of people.
