Asbestos found at General Motors Plant in Grand Rapids; Workers Sent Home Due to Exposure Risk
In February 2008, asbestos was discovered inside a General Motors plant in Grand Rapids, requiring some workers to take the weekend off.
Lab tests confirmed asbestos in pieces of window caulking that fell inside the plant. Asbestos was found in 2 of 6 samples tested. A plant representative stated the contaminated pieces began falling in a section of the factory that dates back to 1936. To curtail any threat of exposure, plant officials put up plastic to capture any additional falling material.
Tragically, the makers of asbestos products and the companies that marketed them to the public, knew all too well of the dangers to a person's health. Our law firm has ample documentation of employers who allowed their workers to toil unprotected with asbestos, even after learning of the hazards. Since 1986, our lawyers have dedicated themselves to helping those with asbestos-related illnesses and their families seek compensation for their illness.
