Haycock Elementary School closed during renovation that may reveal asbestos
Haycock Elementary School will be closed while it undergoes renovation that officials say may lead to the discovery of asbestos.
As to what schools Haycock students would attend in the 2008-09 school year, Andrejko said that will be determined within the next few months as administrators put together a transition plan.
Andrejko favored closing the school and urged board members to move in that direction since the other option was to conduct the renovation project over a four-year period.
Going with the four-year option cost at least $100,000 more, and students would have experienced significant disruption during the school year.
