Workers Exposed to Asbestos in Historic Equitable Building in Iowa.
In February 2008, the Des Moines Register reported that safety inspectors were looking into whether workers at the historic Equitable Building in downtown Des Moines, Iowa were negligently exposed to asbestos.
The Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Bureau's investigation began in September 2008, after state environmental regulators charged a developer with asbestos violations at the 19-story building that was being partially converted into condominiums.
An unknown number of people worked in and visited the building over 14 months before officials received an anonymous tip, the article said.
Sadly, this situation is all too familiar to the attorneys in the Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit.
