Maintenance builder dies of mesothelioma after being exposed to asbestos on the job.
A widow could be entitled to up to asbestos compensation after a coroner ruled her husband, a maintenance builder, died of the industrial disease mesothelioma, reported the Lancashire Telegraph on August 14, 2008.
According to court documents, her husband, 75, developed malignant mesothelioma after working as a builder at local hospitals.
A pathologist confirmed that the illness was a result of exposure to asbestos.
The man had worked as a maintenance builder for over 20 years.
His job involved removing asbestos rope from boiler doors and lagged pipework.
Court documents say had to work with bare hands and was not made aware of the risks he ran in doing so.
