Bids Submitted for Asbestos Removal Project at Marcy, NY Psychiatric Center

In July 2009, the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) announced that bids had been received for an asbestos remediation project at the Central New York Psychiatric Center in Marcy, NY.

The OGS report indicated that 18 firms had bid on the Psychiatric Center project, which will involve removing asbestos-containing pipe insulation in the basement of one of the buildings on the Center’s campus.

Contracts are expected to be awarded to low bidders following the OGS’ regular review and approval process. The timeframe for the completion of the work at the Psychiatric Center has not been announced.

Exposure to asbestos is known to cause serious illnesses such as mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer or asbestosis.
