Asbestos discovered at McFall Elementary School

Construction work at Thornapple Kellogg's McFall Elementary School uncovered an unexpected subfloor and, ultimately, asbestos.

However, Superintendent Gary Rider said students were not in any danger because the affected area was sealed.

Asbestos is a flame-retardant material that was commonly used in construction materials. It's made up of fibers that can cause illness, including cancer.
