EPA Discovers Asbestos in Media, Pennsylvania
In August 2008, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it had ordered a Media, Pennsylvania business owner to take protective actions after discovering asbestos violations on the property.
The business owners were directed to post warning signs after an EPA inspector found asbestos both inside and outside one of the buildings on the property.
While the public did not have access to the contaminated building, the EPA’s actions were taken in order to protect employees of the business from exposure to this dangerous carcinogen.
Exposure to asbestos is known to cause serious diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer and asbestosis.
