Asbestos at Missoula, Montana Sorority House
After a December 2008 water pipes break a Missoula sorority house at the University of Montana, it was initially hoped that the repairs could be completed before students returned to campus after their Christmas break. Unfortunately, when the repair work was begun, workers found asbestos in the walls of the house.
Exposure to asbestos is known to cause serious diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestos-related lung cancer and asbestosis.
The Kappa Alpha Theta house, where the asbestos was found, is expected to remain closed until March 2009. The house members are currently sharing quarters with another campus sorority.
