Asbestos at Monroe County, PA Housing Authority Buildings
In February 2009, the Monroe County Housing Authority announced plans to remove asbestos from 50 public housing buildings. The buildings, located in Stroudsburg, Stroud Township and East Stroudsburg, PA had been built in the late 1950s.
The Authority’s executive director reported that a special engineer inspecting the buildings had found asbestos insulation wrapped around pipes located in craw spaces.
The Authority is currently seeking bids from certified asbestos abatement contractors to perform the asbestos removal, and expects that the project will begin in April 2009.
