Navy veterans: You have a right to seek compensation for your asbestos illness.
A Navy veteran newly diagnosed with mesothelioma has brought an asbestos suit against corporations, according to the Madison St. Clair Record on August 20, 2008.
According to the Record, from the late '60 to the early '70s, he was in the U.S. Navy, where he trained to be a machinist and worked in the engine and boiler rooms.
The paper reported that he also worked as a laborer, and as a supervisor at a powerhouse. Each of these may have exposed him to the harmful asbestos dust and fiber.
The lawsuit charges that the Navy veteran's exposure to asbestos was completely foreseeable and should have been anticipated by his former employers.
