Asbestos Scare at Philadelphia, PA Area School
In February 2009, the middle/senior high school building in a suburban Philadelphia, PA school district was temporarily closed after a contractor working at the school inadvertently drilled into a wall where asbestos was present.
The Morrisville School District’s superintendent announced that after the incident occurred, students were dismissed from school so the building could be evaluated. After environmental consultants checked the site, they found the concentrations were well below the levels determined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be safe.
As a result, the school was opened for classes the following day.
