Pilots: You have a right to seek legal action if your job caused an asbestos illness.
A 63-year-old former airline pilot died after a 15-month battle with asbestos-related cancer, reported the Henley Standard on August 18, 2008. Other pilots have come forward as well to seek compensation for their injuries.
According to the newspaper, the man died after a malignant tumor spread throughout his lungs, causing respiratory failure.
Traces of asbestos were found in his lungs and doctors concluded it may have dated back to when he first worked as a farm hand and secondly, when he worked for British Airways.
Many workers have come forward to say their jobs led to a diagnosis of mesothelioma, asbestosis or lung cancer from asbestos.
