Plattsburg, NY Area Contractors Sentenced in Asbestos Case

In February 2009, two men from the Plattsburg, NY area were sentenced for their involvement in an asbestos case that left several area homes and businesses contaminated with the dangerous carcinogen. Both men received federal prison terms and ordered to pay restitution to their former customers.

The two men, who owned construction and asbestos abatement companies, respectively, had been illegally disposing of asbestos since 2005. They were also charged with conspiring with the owner of another area company to falsify air-monitoring records to reflect that all asbestos had been safely removed.
