Lawsuit: Asbestos fibers disturbed during home remodeling projects caused woman's mesothelioma cancer.
A woman with mesothelioma has filed a lawsuit against dozens of corporations. She claims she was exposed to asbestos fibers over the years through several of her husband's home remodeling and car projects.
The woman was diagnosed with the lung disease this month, and her lawsuit states that the corporations that made asbestos products available to the public should be held liable.
In remodeling, even in such well-bonded materials as floor tiles and painted surfaces, asbestos can become loose and airborne when these materials are cut, scraped, filed, sanded, or removed. Remodeling or demolition often cause the release of asbestos fibers.
Asbestos fibers can have serious effects on your health if inhaled. There is no known safe exposure to asbestos, which can cause mesothelioma, lung cancer and asbestosis.
Sadly, this situation is all too familiar to the attorneys in the Weitz & Luxenberg P.C. Asbestos Litigation unit here in the United States.
