Contractor Sentenced for Improper Asbestos Removal at Pittsburgh Hospital Properties

In September 2008, a contractor from Parkville, Maryland was sentenced to six months of home detention by a federal judge in Pittsburgh for his part in the improper removal of asbestos from buildings located at the former Woodville State Hospital facilities in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.
According to prosecutors, the man failed to follow proper procedures for removing the asbestos and made misrepresentations to government officials in connection with an investigation of the cleanup.
In addition to the home detention sentence, the man was also sentenced to three years of probation for conspiracy to violate environmental laws and obstruction of an administrative proceeding.
