Asbestos Removal and Major Renovations for Schools in Reno, NV Area School District

In June 2009, a Reno, NV area school district announced that the planned repairs in the district’s various school buildings would include asbestos removal at five of the district’s schools, including a 51-year old elementary school.

In addition to removing asbestos, the schools will undergo significant renovations, including replacing windows, updating heating and cooling systems, electrical repairs and the installation of new security systems.

The district’s renovation budget of $40 million was funded by a 2002 school bond issue
