In recent news involving asbestos, a New York jury ordered a supplier of industrial control valves and control systems to pay the estate of a repairman over $2 million for his death from cancer, according to the Buffalo News.
Reportedly, the jury held the company financially liable for the asbestos-caused mesothelioma cancer that killed the repairman, who died at 70, nine years after his retirement from the plant.
From 1970 through 1988, the repairman regularly repaired valves that contained asbestos gaskets and packing, according to the News.
