Owner of Rochester, NY Asbestos Removal Company Indicted for Clean Air Act Violations
On June 18, 2009, the U.S. Attorneys office for the Western District of New York announced that charges had been filed against the owner of a Rochester, NY asbestos removal company for violations of the Clean Air Act, submitting false statements and obstruction of justice.
The 15-count indictment states that between June 2006 and August 2008, the man was allegedly responsible for the illegal removal of asbestos at a number of sites in the Rochester area. The man is also charged with allegedly hiding evidence regarding the illegal asbestos removal from federal agencies, including:
If convicted, the man could receive up to five years in prison as well as a criminal fine of up to $250,000 for each count.
The U.S. Attorneys Office also announced that a public notice will be published in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle in order to notify potential victims who may have been harmed as a result of the alleged crimes.
