Did work as a seamstress in a clothing factory cause your asbestos disease?
An 84-year-old disabled woman who has fought for asbestos compensation after the death of her daughter, a seamstress, five years ago has been awarded over $200,000, reported the Norwich Evening News on August 18, 2008.
According to the News, the woman lost her 56-year-old daughter to mesothelioma in September 2003.
Her daughter developed that cancer after inhaling deadly asbestos dust when working as a seamstress in a clothing factory.
Reportedly, she had sewn firemen's jackets which were lined with asbestos while working at the factory for seven years. The dust lay dormant in her lungs until she developed mesothelioma five years ago.
Many factory workers have come forward to say their work environment led to a diagnosis of mesothelioma, asbestosis or lung cancer from asbestos.
